Welcome to Time Decorations. There is nothing to see or hear here yet.
What is this all about?
Well, I am planning a podcast series about the sounds of Doctor Who. The idea right now is to go through each story and talk about the music and effects used.
I will probably also talk about the soundtrack releases as well, either as a standalone episode or in conjunction with the appropriate story.
Music about Doctor Who may also be discussed.
When will the programs be released?
It’s early days right now. I’ve just come up with the concept, and need to develop it a little more. I just wanted to secure the domain and other relevant properties.
Why Time Decorations?
The title of the podcast is based on a quote by the artist Jean-Michel Basquiat: “Art is how we decorate space, music is how we decorate time.”
Can I Help?
Certainly. If you have an interest in the sounds of the series I would love to collaborate with you. Even better, if you have some deep knowledge about the music, composers, effects, sound sculptors, &c… I would value your input. You can contact me at info@timedecorations.com
Who am I?
I am Ken Patterson. I am a long time fan of Doctor Who. I am also a broadcaster. Currently I do a weekly show on a community college radio station in the Silicon Valley, but I also worked for over a decade at a public television station that is well known for its association with Doctor Who.
My love of Doctor Who and sound has manifested itself in numerous ways. In the early ’80s I was known for assembling Doctor Who Music Videos – editing clips from the series to pop songs. I recreated some of those for use on television in the early 2000s, as well as cutting promos in a similar vein. For the 50th and 60th anniversaries I presented radio programs of music from the Whoniverse, plus songs about and influenced by the series.
Thank you for reading this, and I hope for you to hear me very soon…
